Porcelain veneers are thin, custom made “shells” permanently bonded to the front of your teeth.
Veneers can transform teeth that are broken, chipped, stained, or have large gaps between them, and some crooked teeth as well. It can also be used to improve the colour and shape of your teeth and give a spectacular lift to your smile. They are also highly resistant to staining.
Composite veneers are constructed with white filling material and it is often an alternative to Porcelain veneer. Composite veneers placed by experienced clinician will give an aesthetic result that is similar to porcelain veneers however they tend to stain more easily.
Also known as “Cap”, it is a tooth shaped cap that fits over your teeth. This option is for people who have structurally weakened teeth, which might be contributed by teeth being Root Canal treated, heavily filled teeth due to decay, or teeth that has hidden cracks which causes discomfort when bite on. Crowns can also be used to cosmetically improve the appearance of your teeth.
A Bridge is an artificial tooth supported by the teeth on either side of the space.
Unlike dentures, this is a fixed option for filling in spaces where tooth or teeth use to be.
Implant is the best way to replace a missing tooth. An implant is like an artificial tooth root, and is placed in to the jaw bone where the tooth has been lost. One or more implants can be used, depending on the size of the space. After a time of healing (usually a few months) an artificial tooth is attached to the implant.
Treatment can take between six and twelve months, but during the treatment there will be temporary measures in place to cover the gap and protect the healing of the area.
A successful implant treatment ensures an artificial tooth that could be as strong as your own natural teeth. It is also the least invasive as implants does not rely on other teeth for its strength.
Denture is also known as a “plate”. It is used to fill a space where a tooth or multiple teeth use to be. This is removable for the ease of cleaning them. A denture’s base can be made of plastic or metal, depending on each person’s oral health condition and need.
